What’s your role at AFF?

Ben Drogemuller, Senior Marketing Coordinator

What you enjoy about working at the Film Festival?

Taking (and arguing) about film every day, and working with a like-minded and passionate group of people. It’s rare to work with such a dedicated and focused team who love a Friday afternoon Campari as much as I do.

What are your favourite film/s ?

The million dollar question! It honestly depends on my mood and who I’m trying to impress, but generally my top 3 are: Donnie Darko, The Shining and Cabaret. This is the first time I’ve really had to narrow it down… turns out I have a thing for supernaturally mentally ill men with axes?
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t give an honorable mention to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Yes I’m counting it as one film.

What’s a really underrated film you love that no one else likes/ knows about?

Leave No Trace with Ben Foster and a young Thomasin Mackenzie is subtle, powerful and heart breakingly beautiful.

What’s your go-to cinema snack and/ or drink?

There’s something about dark spaces and comfy chairs that send me to sleep, so I’m often sipping on a long black coffee to make sure I stay awake.

What’s your favourite spot in Adelaide?

I really love the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. On one side there’s the looming presence of Mount Lofty, covered in dense native forest, and on the other side begins the rolling hills of the Adelaide Hills wine region. The late afternoon Golden Hour sun really brings it to life, and is best enjoyed with an Ashton Hills Pinot.
