“The film’s ample horniness is always in the service of its heart” (IndieWire)

You want weird? We’ve got you covered here. Jeanne (Noémie Merlant from Portrait of a Lady on Fire), who has been working summers at the local amusement park, falls in love with the giant tilt-a-whirl machine. You want stranger still? The machine (Jumbo) falls in love with her too. But despite some steamy, or rather, oily sex, the path of true love between woman and fairground attraction is rarely smooth. Strap yourself in for a wild ride as Spielberg meets Freud in this delirious film. The moral of the story? It doesn’t matter who you love, so long as you’re prepared to go all the way.

“Zoé [Whittock] uses a queer cinematic language in structuring her story and Jumbo actually hits a lot of coming-out-of-the-closet beats that will be familiar to queer fans.” (Gayly Dreadful website)
