Maryam Touzani

Maryam Touzani was born in 1980 in Tangier, Morocco. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Media Communication in London, she returned to Morocco to work as a film journalist. Turning her hand to filmmaking, she directed a series of successful social issues documentaries and then wrote and starred in the multi-narrative drama Razzia (2017). Her feature directorial debut, Adam (2019) a drama about a desperate unwed pregnant woman in Morocco, screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes. The Blue Caftan is her second feature as director.
