Ali Abbassi was born in Tehran in 1981. In 2002 he emigrated to Sweden and went on to study at the National Film School of Denmark. He now lives in Copenhagen. His films include the short M for Markus (2011) and features Shelley (2016), Border (2018) and Holy Spider. Border won the Best Film Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
