The AFF Youth will run a Statewide Schools Filmmaking Competition in the lead-up to the AFF Youth festival in July 26-30. There are $2500 worth of awards.

In partnership with the Department for Education, the Statewide Schools Filmmaking Competition is open to all South Australian school students. The best entries will be screened at the AFF Youth festival.

You can make a short film yourself, with friends or with your class. The short film must be 10 minutes or less.

To assist you, there are How To Make A Film online workshops with introductory advice on scriptwriting, camera, editing and more.

There will be four dedicated awards for South Australian students. They are:

  • Best South Australian Primary School Film (Cash Prize: $500)
  • Best South Australian Middle School Film (Cash Prize $500)
  • Best South Australian High School Film (Cash Prize: $500)
  • SA Power Networks People’s Choice Award (Cash prize: $1,000) for the audience favourite film created by South Australian students (high, middle, primary).

All films must be for children and young people.

Works by young students and classes must show a good grasp of storytelling and a developing technique.

Short screen works from South Australian students eligible for the Statewide Schools Filmmaking Competition – 9 April 2021.
