AFF Youth 2025 Filmmaking Competition
Filmmaking Competition
The AFF Youth Filmmaking Competition is a rewarding opportunity for South Australian school students and young people to create, produce and share their films on the big screen as part of the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Film Festival, held 15 – 26 October 2025. It’s a chance for budding filmmakers to embrace their creativity, meet new people and make industry connections in the buzzing South Australian film industry.
Submissions for the 2025 AFF Youth Filmmaking Competition are now open.
AFF Youth Jury
The AFF Youth Jury comprises six young film fanatics selected by AFF staff. Jury members judge short films entered by students from across South Australia in the AFF Youth Filmmaking Competition under the guidance of Adelaide Film Festival’s programming staff.
Entries are now open for South Australian students 15 years and older to apply to participate in the 2025 AFF Youth Jury. The Youth Jury is a fantastic opportunity for young people to engage with screen culture by viewing, discussing and assessing short films made by their peers in South Australia.
Jurors will be required to view approximately 2 hours worth of student-made short films in their own time and join 2-3 online video calls with the rest of the jury and AFF staff facilitating. Jurors will also be expected to attend the Schools Screening Day and AFF Youth Gala which will take place as part of the Adelaide Film Festival (15 - 26 October).
Youth jurors are expected to engage fully with the viewing and deliberation process. Students undertaking year 12 studies are welcome to apply but should be mindful of the jury commitments and be able to manage these along with their existing study and extracurricular commitments.
