The PiccadillyCinema

The Piccadilly in North Adelaide is one of Adelaide’s best-loved cinemas. Built in 1940, it has been a staple of Adelaide’s film landscape since its inception. In 2022, this beloved institution was restored and refurbished, creating a lush lounge area, making all cinemas fully accessible, and restoring many of the original Art Deco features. The Piccadilly shows the best that cinema has in store, from the latest blockbusters to indie darlings, cult classics, and specialty 35mm presentations. The Piccadilly is home for Adelaide cinema lovers.

Palace Nova EastendCinema

Adelaide’s premier CBD movie destination, the vibrant Palace Nova Eastend offers 12 gorgeous cinemas including the largest screen in Adelaide: The ExiMax. Their friendly staff can assist in recommending films for you, or a delicious wine from their café bar.

Palace Nova strives to source and exhibit world-class films – arthouse, independent, high-quality mainstream, foreign-language and documentaries. See the latest films from around the globe on the big screen, alongside regular revival screenings: classics of Horror, Hollywood and Nostalgia.

Capri TheatreCinema

Conveniently located on Goodwood Road, this stylishly appointed Art Deco cinema boasts both the latest in cinema technology and stadium seating comfort. The Capri Theatre is an independent, not-for-profit cinema run by a network of generous volunteers. Built in 1941, it is heritage listed and houses the Theatre Organ Society’s unique world class theatre pipe organ. They play the latest movies and the profit from every ticket you buy goes back into the restoration of this iconic South Australian building and the mighty Wurlitzer organ.

The MercuryCinema

Established in 1974, The Mercury is a beloved art-house cinema and independent non-profit member organisation governed by a board of directors. Key stakeholders include subscribers, patrons, the broader arts industry, screen guilds and key funders. The Mercury is a bridging organisation that provides emerging screen makers with a pathway into a career, and it’s home to a lifelong screen culture community. The Mercury also has two cinemas, The Mercury (seats 186) and The Iris (seats 36) — which are both home to exhibition programs including Cinematheque, Heaps Good Cinema and Silver Screen, and Adelaide Film Festival.

Odeon Star SemaphoreCinema

Experience a movie in Adelaide’s oldest-running cinema. Odeon Star Semaphore opened on 22 May 1920 as the Wondergraph Picture Palace in the historical seaside suburb of Semaphore. Now, Odeon Star Semaphore is a proud family-run cinema, offering $10 tickets and an affordable Candy Bar, including their famous in-house-made Choc-Tops!

It reflects the University of South Australia’s determination to make a dynamic contribution to the intellectual and cultural life of the state and to the Australian tertiary education sector.

Public Transport

Adelaide Film Festival is committed to sustainability and limiting our carbon footprint. We’d love for our audiences to do the same by catching public transport when possible. Take advantage of the free City Connector bus, offering a hop-on and hop-off service to the city and North Adelaide, linking popular city attractions, shopping, dining and key destinations.

Bus route 98A and 98C connect North Adelaide with the city, and 99A and 99C connect the inner-city. Services operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends. For timetables, route details and real-time information visit Adelaide Metro.

Don’t be late

All films start at the advertised session time with very few ads, so please be on time. For red carpet events, the red carpet will begin 30 minutes before the session time.

AFF recommends arriving to the cinema venue at least 30 minutes prior to your selected screening. Venues will be open for hospitality options 1 hour prior to the first screening.

Please note your allocation is held until the scheduled session start time. After this time, we cannot guarantee your allocation, and you may be seated in a seat to ensure no obstructions impact the screening. Lockouts may apply. There are no exchanges or refunds available if you arrive late to a session. Find out more about our cinema venues and transport options here.

We look forward to seeing you at the movies.
