Adelaide Film Festival is excited to be presenting the 2022 Edition of the festival from 19 – 30 October 2022.

The biennial Festival is considered one of Australia’s most distinctive and innovative.  Every two years, AFF screens the very best of contemporary Australian and international feature films, documentaries, short films and virtual reality productions and premieres screen projects made with the support of the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund.

Also known as the ‘friendly festival’, Adelaide Film Festival is renowned for welcoming filmmaker guests and patrons from around Australia and the globe. 2022 will see the resumption of guests being able to travel for the Festival to Adelaide, South Australia, a centre for filmmaking and cultural excellence in Australia.

AFF Creative Director & CEO, Mat Kesting, said: “After the turbulence and disruptions of the past year and a half, the Adelaide Film Festival board and staff are delighted to be working towards presenting an incredible program in 2022, where once again lovers of film and screen arts more broadly and filmmakers themselves will be able to come together in Adelaide to enjoy the inimitable shared experience that cinema brings.”

Submissions, Awards & Prizes

AFF is calling for film submissions for the 2022 program, and will close in June 2022. Further information can be found on our 2022 Submissions page.

Adelaide Film Festival is proud to recognise excellence in screen storytelling with a host of well-regarded film festival awards which in previous years have included Jury awards across International Feature Fiction, International Documentary and International Virtual Reality. Three Jury Awards will be presented – for Feature Fiction, Feature Documentary and Virtual Reality – and four Audience Awards – for Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short and the Change Award, for positive social or environmental impact. The cash prize pool is in excess of $35,000 awarded to filmmakers.
