2020 began with a viral pandemic, COVID-19. By the middle of the year another outbreak, Black Lives Matter, was sweeping the world. In this new age of uncertainty, one person, ShoPaapaa, is still standing, when he really shouldn’t be. Physically compromised, he has been ‘shielded’, totally isolated, in suburban Ealing, London, for the past six months and will continue to be indefinitely, at least until there is an effective vaccine; which may be never. Somehow, he still believes the future is bright. Cinematically audacious, ShoPaapaa is an exploration of the line between drama and documentary in the worst of times and the best of times.

“It is likely the film will endure as a record and testimony of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for this, the filmmakers deserve recognition” – Ari Mattes, The Conversation
