“Vibrant, engaging and realistic” (CineEuropa)

Boris Khlebnikov further establishes himself as one of the most brilliant young directors in Russia with this involving drama about a marriage at the point of collapse. There is a lot to like and dislike about Oleg, a strong-willed paramedic who works under constant pressure. His wife Katya, an emergency room doctor, understands his lack of self-discipline, but there is only so much she can tolerate. It’s one thing to live on your own terms, but it’s hard to share a life with someone like this. Arrhythmia deservedly carried off the Grand Prix at Russia’s leading national film festival and it marks another major achievement in the Eastern European tradition of realist filmmaking that also manages strong emotional engagement.
