Gerrie, an ex-bus driver living in sunny Portugal, flies home to Rotterdam, Netherlands to visit his step-daughter’s family, see his doctor, and catch up on some life admin. Oh, and to reunite with his eccentric, grown-up son, Dick.
What ensues is a bittersweet father-son portrait full of dry wit, warm metaphor, and beautiful black-and-white cinematography. Peter Hoogendoorn’s sophomore feature is an intimate snapshot of male vulnerability, well-deserving of its spot in the Crystal Globe Competition at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Three Days of Fish is a page in the family photo album not to be skipped.
"Dutch writer/director Peter Hoogendoorn’s Three Days of Fish is a stirring picture of male vulnerability."
