Awarded Best Documentary at Berlinale, this affecting film from an Israeli–Palestinian collective has won over audiences around the world.

Palestinian activist Basel Adra picks up a camera to document Israel’s mass expulsion of his community Masafer Yatta in the occupied West Bank. Israeli investigative journalist Yuval Abraham joins him to support his efforts.

The two form a complex bond, which is constantly challenged by the inequality between them. Basel’s life is restricted by military law, his community threatened by bulldozers, while Yuval is unrestricted and free. Although this divide is starkly evident in their honest conversations with each other, the pair continues to work towards the same goal: a path towards equality and justice.

Basel and Yuval capture the gradual erasure of Masafer Yatta and the resilience of its people with hand-held cameras and archival footage, while co-directors Rachel Szor (Israeli journalist and cinematographer) and Hamdan Ballal (Palestinian activist and photographer) document their efforts.

A multi-award winner at Berlinale, No Other Land is an affecting documentary and courageous piece of journalism.

“No Other Land is a documentary about who wields power under occupation. The film, which premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, is a sobering offering for this politically urgent moment.”
