What is the ADL Film Fest Pop Up event?

ADL Film Fest Pop Up is an off-season event held to celebrate the Australian Premieres of Fund Films: Top End Wedding and Animals. The next full festival will be presented in 2020.

Why are gala tickets more expensive?

Gala screenings give access to premiere films alongside red carpet events with filmmakers, cast and VIPs in attendance.

What is a Gala Deluxe Pass?

If you want to attend both gala events we have you covered with the Gala Deluxe Pass. The passes give you an opportunity to experience both Australian Premiere red carpet events and after parties at a discounted price of $60.

Where will it be held?

Thanks to our major partner, GU Film House, both gala events and Q&A screenings will take place at their premium cinemas at 128 Hindley St Adelaide.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets will be limited so recommend you book in advance via our website. However, some tickets will be available at the event at the Pop Up box office at GU Film House. Hours:

Friday 5 pm to 6:30 pm

Saturday 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Sunday 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Where can I park?

GU Film House Adelaide is directly adjacent to CARE Car Park North Terrace providing access directly into the complex.  If you’d like to take advantage of a $5 for 5 hour parking voucher, please fill out this form.

Can I get a discount if I go to both films?

Yes.  We have made it nice and easy for you to attend both gala events with the introduction of the Gala Deluxe Pass, enabling you to experience both Australian Premiere red carpet events and after parties at a discounted price.

Does this event mean the ADL Film Fest is annual?

The Adelaide Film Festival is currently a biennial event celebrating screen stories from all over the world incorporating VR, feature fiction, documentaries and interactive projects – with a special focus on supporting Australian and South Australian works. The next full program will take place in 2020.

What is the ADL Film Fest FUND?

The cornerstone of the ADL Film Fest is the FUND, founded by the South Australian government, which supports the development of screen stories across feature fiction feature documentary shorts, TV series, moving image interactive augmented and virtual reality. With over 100 international and 188 national awards, a swag of laurels from Cannes Venice Toronto Berlin and Sundance, the FUND has rapidly come to be recognised as a major force in encouraging and enabling innovative screen works.

How is the ADL Film Fest FUND related to the Pop Up event? 

We have an exciting opportunity to present the Australian Premieres of two ADL Film Fest FUND Films direct from their Sundance Film Festival world premieres. Introducing ADLFF POP UP – an exciting weekend event from April 5-7, featuring Top End Wedding and Animals, plus Q&A sessions with cast and crew.

Is this a fully accessible event?

The Adelaide Film Festival has a commitment to improving access to our events for the Deaf and audience members with disability. GU Film House, the West Oak Hotel and Lion Arts Factory are fully wheelchair accessible. Infrared hearing loops are supported in all GU Film House auditoriums and for all films, with headsets available for collection at the venue.
