Smith & Cider
If you haven’t met comedian Steve Coogan’s most endearing and infuriating creation, Alan Partridge, we think Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is the perfect introduction.
Everyone's favourite lightly talented media personality is catapulted into the middle of a siege at his radio station. When the late night DJ (Colm Meaney) is invited to explore his career options elsewhere, and before you can say a-haaa, he reaches for a shotgun and threatens to blow out whatever brains Sidekick Simon has. This is a job for one man, and strangely enough, that man is Partridge.
Coogan has been channelling his famous comic creation for almost 20 years, but only now is he ready for his big screen action debut. There's a car chase (slow), an explosion (small) and gunplay (of sorts). There's also a wealth of British comedy talent including writer Armando Ianucci (In the Loop/The Thick of It) and director Declan Lowney (Father Ted/Little Britain).
As a tribute to Alan’s first feature film, the Adelaide Film Festival, along with Smith Journal magazine will be launching and sampling a British-style cider at the Festival Club at 6pm on Friday October 11. Created especially for the film by the Hills Cider Company, it’s the ideal way to get in the mood for Alan's antics.
All those who purchase a ticket to the 7.30pm screening of Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa on Friday October 11 will be invited to attend the Smith & Cider event, but it’s first in best dressed, so grab your tickets now online, call our Box Office on (08) 7070 0999 or pay them a visit at 6 Cinema Place, Adelaide.
Attendees will also receive a Smith Journal pack, which includes a free copy of the magazine.
