SA Cinemas Reignite with Adelaide Film Festival
Come back to the cinema with AFF and friends
We are thrilled to connect with Palace Nova cinemas, GU Film House and Wallis Cinemas to present a weekend of simultaneous cinema premieres across the city Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July.
Rally your mates and grab a choc top (oh remember them!!), a bucket of popcorn or cheese platter and wine (yes please) treat yourself to a big-screen experience with two amazing films- Never Too Late and Escape from Pretoria – both shot in South Australia last year.
Remember when Daniel Radcliffe was filming in the heart of the city? Now is your chance to see him – and the streets of Adelaide transformed to South Africa - on the big screen! The perfect way to celebrate returning to our spiritual home – the cinema.
Escape from Pretoria
Saturday 11 July – 7pm
Directed and co-written by Francis Annan, Escape from Pretoria tells the true story of Tim Jenkin (Daniel Radcliffe) and Stephen Lee (Daniel Webber), young, white South Africans branded “terrorists”, and imprisoned in 1978 for working covert operations for Nelson Mandela’s banned ANC. This is the story of an oppressed majority’s struggle, and two ordinary men who stood-up to be counted in the pursuit of equality for all. The film is a UK/Australia co-production set in South Africa, filmed entirely on location in Adelaide.

Never Too Late (World Premiere)
Sunday July 12 at 1pm
Featuring an all-star cast including Jacki Weaver, Jack Thompson, James Cromwell, Dennis Waterman, Shane Jacobson and Roy Billing, director Mark Lamprell’s Never too Late, is a sheer delight. When a nursing home stands in the way of a 50-year courtship, four grumpy old Vietnam Vets unite to re-enact the great escape. They may have lost their memory and speed, but these renegades prove it’s never too late for new adventures, even if you have to break rules to break free.
