Lihat. Dengar. Rasakan: Look. Listen. Feel.

Lisa and Sarah are the coolest 17-year-olds in Jakarta. They live on their phones, hang out at the mall, and have a sexy food channel on the internet. But things are about to get real—and not in a good way. Lisa’s addiction to internet porn threatens to spiral out of control, especially as her mother has adopted her new husband’s religious fundamentalism. Sarah starts a relationship with an older guy, which forces her to confront vital questions of rape and consent. The gulf between technology-driven modernity and social and religious tradition yawns especially wide in an Indonesian context. If you want to see a film about and the challenges girls face in the twenty-first century, this might be the most uncompromising thing going.

“… infinitely empathetic.” (Windows on Worlds)
