| João Pedro Rodrigues was born in 1966 in Lisbon Portugal. A graduate of the School of Theatre of Portugal, he was heavily influenced by the ideas of director and professor António Reis. His debut feature, erotic drama Phantom (2000), premiered at Venice, and his follow up Two Drifters (2005) launched at Cannes. His transgressive semi-religious drama The Ornithologist (2016) won best Director at Locarno Film Festival. In 2017 he was a member of the International Feature jury at Adelaide Film Festival. Will-o’-the-Wisp (2022) is his sixth feature. |
