29 May 2021

Jahvis Loveday is a young Indigenous Filmmaker based in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Over the course of the last two years, Jahvis has completed a Bachelor of Film, along the way making an award-winning short film Home, which follows a young girl navigating the emotions of leaving her hometown for the first time. His latest short, Bama (meaning community in the language of the Duru people), focuses on the fear of losing the magic of family and community when you are so far away from them. Together with his films Home and Bama, Jahvis has received over 10 awards including Byron Bay International film Festival’s Best Young Australian Filmmaker Award in 2020. Jahvis hopes to continue telling stories of his Indigenous brothers and sisters, eventually moving to producing feature films.
