Bold and ambitious Film Lab: New Voices feature film skills development program fosters a new generation of diverse South Australian filmmakers

The initiative from AFF and the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) in collaboration with Mercury CX and with the support of Screen Australia in delivering the development phase, gives three South Australian creative teams industry mentoring with highly-credentialed screen story development mentor  across a 12-month period, to develop a low-budget feature film script.

The inaugural round of the Film Lab program was held in 2021, with funding announced as being awarded to Monolith, from writer Lucy Campbell, director Matt Vesely and producer Bettina Hamilton. The film will then premiere at the 2022 Adelaide Film Festival (held 19-30 October).

Having recently been narrowed down to the final two teams, Round 2 will continue throughout 2022, with a final group receiving $400,000 to produce a film to premiere at the 2023 Adelaide Film Festival.
