It’s her birthday. She’s sexually inexperienced, lonely, in her late twenties, and her name is Happy. Determined to be proactive on this dreaded day, Happy downloads a dating app and seeks out a casual encounter with another woman. Being this vulnerable with a stranger is more confronting and liberating than Happy expects.

Laura Dudgeon is an award-winning Sydney based screenwriter and director. She began her career as a music video director and was quickly recognised as a young Australian filmmaker to watch, ranking as a Top Three Finalist in the QANTAS Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA).
Laura’s first short film, Comfortable, premiered in Official Competition at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards and won Best Film and Best Director at the World of Women Film Festival. As a cinematographer, Laura won a Gold ACS Award (Australian Cinematography Society) for her work on the short film, Stopping All Stations.
Laura holds a Master of Screen Arts in directing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and a Bachelor of Film and Television Production from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She also studied screen acting at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) and trained as a dancer for twelve years, as well as improvisation and Japanese warrior training with the world-renowned Zen Zen Zo physical theatre company.
Laura draws on her background in dance and performance to choreograph and direct for the screen.
