"A short, sharp, funny shock of a movie… observant and smart." (The Guardian)

Sally Potter’s first feature in five years has been universally hailed as her most accessible and enjoyable. This is not to say that her vision is any less scathing about the ways that the insularity of middle class life has cut off any possibility of positive social change in Britain. This blackest of comedies takes us to a dinner party, organised by Janet, to celebrate her ascension to the Cabinet. Of course, everything that can go wrong…well, you know the rest. Drugs, guns, cancer, pregnancy, and adultery all crop up before the canapés have even appeared. A stellar cast includes Kristen Scott Thomas, Timothy Spall and Patricia Clarkson, and some delicious black and white cinematography make the evening complete.
