All love is equal

This is based on a true story about terminally-ill New Jersey police officer Laurel Hester, (in another great performance by Julianne Moore) whose 2005 legal battle to pass on her pension benefits to her domestic partner (co-producer Ellen Page, who herself came out as gay during the making of this film) became a flashpoint for gay rights activism. Steve Carell is again cast against type as the lawyer who fights for justice. The screenplay is by Ron Nyswander, who also wrote the AIDS-themed Philadelphia over 20 years ago.

“might secure the Still Alice winner her second best actress award in a row” – The Guardian
